Ireland's Department of Health Steers Disposable E-Cigarette Bill Through Both Houses of Parliament

According to recent reports, Ireland's Minister for Health, Jennifer Carroll MacNeill TD, and Minister for Public Health, Wellbeing and National Drugs Strategy, Jennifer Murnane O'Connor TD, today successfully steered the Public Health (Disposable E-Cigarettes) Act 2025 through both Houses of the Oireachtas. The Bill has now been sent to the President of Ireland for consideration.

This legislation will regulate the flavours and appearance of e-cigarettes, set the minimum age of sale for all nicotine products at 18 years old, and restrict their retail display and advertising. From the date the legislation comes into effect, industry and retailers will have six months to clear non-compliant stock.

This legislation is designed to protect children's health and remove the most appealing, affordable, and accessible vaping products from the market. By banning disposable e-cigarettes, we are helping to prevent nicotine addiction and creating a cleaner environment for everyone.
